What's NEW?

The Mahdee floors and framing project is COMPLETE! as of April 2007. If you'd like to read about it, you can look at the pages here and go to the Mahdee Web Log Category "Projects: Frames and Floors" to read about it.

Frames Mahdee's bow was re-framed with angelique sawn frames and mahogany (sapele) laminated frames. Then, her mid section was re-framed with mahogany (sapele) laminated frames. Finally, her stern was reframed with laminated frames. All her old oak floors were replaced with purpleheart floors. The framing work was completed by April 2007

The original frames are steam-bent white oak 2 ¾" x 2 ¾" finished size. Along her 54' length, she has 49 floors spaced 12" apart. In addition to her 49 frame stations, she also has 11 intermediate frames, called "auxiliary frames" in the specification. The intermediate frames run from stringer to stringer and bolt into the aft side of the floors while the main frames bolt along the foreward side of the floors.
