Charthouse Carlines

As part of replacing rotted deck beams, the old charthouse carlines are also being replaced this week. The charthouse itself will be refurbished, but the carlines were rotted beyond repair. In this pic you can see the new carline on the port side, notched properly for the deckbeams alongside the charthouse. We ended up removing the new deckbeams that the previous owner, Tom, had fabricated and installed along the charthouse. To get a very tight joint, John fabricated new beams, but we should be able to use Tom’s beams further aft in the boat along-side the cockpit.

More threading bronze rods for David

David spent the better part of a day threading more bronze rods. These were to run through blocking and mast partners between the new deck beams. Below, you can see David using the die on bronze rod on the vise, there are several he’s already threaded on the table in front of him. The other pic is of the blocking between the deck beams in the bow of the boat.

Foredeck

John and David worked quickly to make and install deckbeams in the foredeck and raised deck in front of the charthouse. However, our September order for bronze fasteners (bolts and screws) was delayed and the guys literally used clamps to hold everything together for a couple weeks as they worked. Here are a couple pictures of the foredeck from above and below. Click on images for larger view.
