On December 9, 2006, Congress passed the reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Act (MSA). The primary law governing fishing in U.S. waters, MSA was first passed in 1976, and requires reauthorization every 10 years. This year’s reauthorization includes important conservation measures for promoting sustainable fisheries nationwide. As we get further into the project, I can truly say, well, it’s just getting uglier. Yes, the boat is becoming more structurally sound. But, there’s nary a good lookin’ place on her. I was beginning to forget what she looked like before. I went back to the original images we took in February 2006. The pictures were taken of the blocks, fittings, winches, windlass, all the things that I figured we’d forget about once the project was in swing. I was right. We have forgotten half the stuff that we have in boxes belonging to Mahdee. Back then, I though the pics were ugly because they revealed all the wear and tear. Now I think she looked ok!
