Boat cat Beryl spends a lot of time snoozing both on and off watch. She prefers to sit on the throwing cushion and getting fur all over David’s rain jacket.

Cat nap in a rolling seaway
When motoring along, Beryl likes to sit right atop the engine and enjoys the warmth soaking up through the floor. Here she’s sound asleep and the boat is actually rolling side to side quite a bit. She slips across the floor oblivious to the motion and the sound of the motor.
Shipmates and Best Buddies
I seem to take quite a few photos of ship’s cat Beryl and David together–this is largely because they are constant companions aboard the boat. They’re pretty much always looking at the same thing. And, when I say “smile” they both look at me with similar loopy grins.
