I love seeing the dinghy sailors out and about. One of the fun things about anchoring adjacent to the San Diego Yacht Club is seeing the children out racing on the weekends. Sometimes it’s adults and senior citizens racing but usually it’s the kids. They’ll race up to Mahdee and turn on a dime, tacking, and off to the next mark.

Home again, safe and sound. Mahdee managed to suddenly grow a green grass beard along her (South-facing) port side in the 10 days we were gone. Amazing. We haven’t had to clean the hull since last October and suddenly she’s green with 3″ of grass all in 10 days!

We’ve been besieged by an interesting range of birds this winter. In our present anchorage, we’re surrounded by a flotilla of Surf Scoter, and Greater Scaup.
Yesterday, as David, high above the water, checked the security of rigging on the bowsprit, I began to think that he’d be flying into the water to join the flotilla as well.
