Now that we’re in San Diego Harbor for a bit, I’ve had to pull out my calendar and start logging Mahdee’s schedule of places she’s allowed to be and when. I call this Mahdee’s playdates. Permits for three days at one anchorage, three days at another, a couple days on the public dock, a few days at the A9 cruisers’ anchorage…throw in a couple inexpensive 1 week stays at the Fiddlers’ Cove courtesy dock or a yacht club on recips from NYCSD and then go to the “next level” of complications–She gets 60 days total allowed in one calendar year at the Fiddlers’ Cove courtesy dock (that includes last winter when we were here), three one month permits in 12 months for the A9 (including those from last fall and winter), three “three-day” anchorage permits per 30 day period in the “regular anchorages” (doesn’t include the A9), 10 days of public dock time per 40 day period, …and so forth. All in all, it seems we’ll be fine and have places to anchor or dock this fall and winter but I must admit it was so very very nice to be up in San Francisco Bay area where no one really cared where we anchored or for how long! Sigh.
